Chhotepur’s supporters get vocal about floating a party

sucha-singh-chhotepur-press-conference-at-jalandhar_1467031296Chandigarh: Sucha Singh Chhotepur’s removal as AAP’s Punjab convener has turned into a rallying point for those who are upset with the manner in which tickets have been announced for the January 2017 assembly elections.
The dissidents are even contemplating floating a new political outfit – AAP Punjab – if the party leadership does not pay heed to their demands.
The party’s six zone in-charges backing Chhotepur have told TOI that they will wait for the party to respond to the September 1 ultimatum that they served to the central leadership before discussing such prospectBut murmurs of yet another split are already pretty loud in party circles.
Kamaljit Singh Dhaliwal, incharge of the Anandpur Sahib zone, said, “If the party leadership does not listen to us, then launching a new front is definitely an option. The demands include bringing Chhotepur back as convener and minimizing presence of Delhi leadership.”But Chhotepur is non-committal on his future plans. “It is too early to talk about such options. My priority for now is to travel the state and meet volunteers who have stood by me in the middle of this conspiracy. I will be paying obeisance at the Golden Temple on Saturday and then launch a public contact programme,” he told TOI.
